Obituary for Gregory E. Grass

Gregory E. Grass
Gregory E. Grass, 65, of Auburn, died peacefully on Saturday, June 8, 2019 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Cheryl H.(Harmon) Grass.

Greg was born in Auburn, ME and raised throughout New England. He was the son of the late Calvin F. and Jane R. (Robertson) Grass. Greg graduated from Bonny Eagle High School in Standish, ME in 1971. Following graduation, Greg moved to Florida and attended the Florida Institute of Technology.

In 1973, Greg returned to New England and began a family following his marriage to his dear Cheryl, with whom he shared 46 wonderful years in marriage. Greg found true passion in his work. During his long career, Greg gained a reputation for his ability to not only repair, but to redesign and retrofit many necessary parts, and he was always able to deliver a safe and durable product. Greg loved that his work took him all over the country. He and Cheryl were able to visit almost every state, and they had many adventures. He was the proud owner of G & C Associates, and he was the only Centroid representative in New England.

Greg will be remembered by all who knew him for his bearhugs and his unique sense of humor. Always eager to help friends with any project, he was a self-proclaimed handyman who was always there for you. An active church member and a man of immense faith, he taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and was part of numerous ministries throughout the church. His mission trip to Honduras was among his most treasured memories. He will be missed for his big heart and caring personality. Greg was happiest when he was surrounded by his family. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren, attending every event possible.

In addition to his wife Cheryl, he is survived by his children, Jennifer Stevens and her husband Jeffrey of Auburn, Stephanie Blundell and her husband Robert of Marietta, California, Allison Cesena and her husband Marshall of Huntersville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Victoria, Alexander, Nathaniel, Nicholas, Vincent, Juliana, Oliver; siblings, Calvin Grass and his wife Deborah, Miriam Walker and her husband Peter, Rebecca Fisher and her husband Charles; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Westcot.

The Grass family would like to express their gratitude to all the doctors and staff of Dana Farber, 7th floor, as well as all of those at VNA Hospice Care for their compassionate care. Honoring Greg’s wishes, his family, with the assistance of the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn, will celebrate his life in private. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Greg may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via www.dana-farber.org/gift.
