Obituary for Thomas Patrick Looney

Thomas Patrick Looney
Thomas P. Looney, 59, of North Brookfield passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at his home.

He was born March 12, 1960 much to the frustration of his loving Mother, as her due date was 22 days earlier, and he was the last of her 8 children. The blonde, blue-eyed, left-handed baby boy, opposite from all of his siblings, made his grand entrance into the Looney Family.

Tom was the son of the late Helen I. (Connors) and John B. Looney Sr. He is survived by his four siblings, Kathleen J. Conley and her husband William of Dudley, Anne M. Looney of Auburn, Timothy J. Looney and his wife Marybeth of Auburn, and Terence J. Looney of Spencer. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Tom was also predeceased by three of his brothers; John B. Looney Jr., Daniel P. “Speedy” Looney, and Michael K. “Mickey” Looney.

Tom was born in Worcester and lived most of his life in Auburn, graduating from Auburn High School. He was a skilled carpenter for 40 years, a member of Local #107. Most recently he worked for Builders Systems in Auburn before retiring.

He enjoyed taking part in fundraisers on his beloved Harley and avidly attended concerts of bands before they gained popularity. He loved his classic rock: not just the hits - the deep cuts too. He loved reading, especially biographies. He had an infectious laugh and sense of humor. He had a big smile and a hug for everyone. Once you met him, he became your friend. He was kind, loving and funny. His apartment was covered with pictures and family memories of life’s events which he proudly showed to anyone who visited.

Services will be held privately. Donations in Tom’s memory may be made to St. John’s Food for the Poor Program, 20 Temple Street, Worcester, MA 01604, or at www.stjohnsfoodforthepoor.org or Massachusetts Veterans Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605, www.veteransinc.org
