Obituary for Dennis J Martin

Dennis J Martin
Dennis J. Martin, 50, of Shrewsbury and formerly of Marlborough died peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, July 2, 2019. He was the husband of Denise E. (LeLievre) Martin with whom he shared 26 wonderful years together.

In addition to his wife, Dennis is survived by his children Lindsay Petruzzi and her husband Dominic of Worcester, Kristina Zagwyn of Worcester, Matthew Zagwyn of Hudson; grandchildren Connor Clark, Brennen Clark, Brianna Clark, Kyleigh Petruzzi, and Bella Petruzzi; siblings Kevin Martin and his wife Alyssa of Shrewsbury, Gary Martin and his wife Elise of Lexington; aunt and godmother Nancy Brunnell; father-in-law and mother-in-law Dennis and Marie LeLievre of Florida; sister-in-law Karen Valovcin and her husband David, sister-in-law Diane Brigham and her husband Brad of California. He leaves many aunts and uncles, many nieces and nephews and countless friends. Dennis also leaves his special friend, his cat, Sierra. Dennis joins his mother, the late Joan A. (Wagner) Waters in heaven. When the good Lord finally called him, he met him with courage and joy with the promise of what lied ahead.

Born in Worcester, the son of William J. Martin, Jr and the late Joan A. (Wagner) Waters, Dennis was raised and educated in Shrewsbury, graduating from Shrewsbury High School in 1986. Dennis dedicated most of his career to tree work and landscaping. Early on, he discovered his specialty was in tree work, a natural climber. Dennis did not fear climbing up to the heights needed to be able to prune and cut down most any tree. Dennis would be the first to tell you it was hard work but work that he truly enjoyed. He worked for many local tree and landscape companies as well as worked 15 years for himself at his own business.

When not at work, Dennis enjoyed fishing, especially when his friends and family joined him. He enjoyed War Movies and Westerns and enjoyed a good game of chess. He will be remembered as an avid history buff. More than all of these, Dennis enjoyed many hours spent surrounded by his family, time spend at a cookouts at home, working around the yard and playing with the grandkids. He loved being surrounded by family. In the past few years Denise and his family were lucky to spend many wonderful vacations together.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Dennis’ family on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 9:00 AM till 11:00 AM at the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. A celebration of life Service for Dennis will be held at 11:00 AM. In memory of Dennis, he would appreciate the planting of a tree in his memory or donations be made to the scholarship fund created in memory of Denise’s cousin John at The John J. Curley Memorial Scholarship Fund, St. John's High School, Shrewsbury, MA, 01545.
