Obituary for Richard C. Lolax

Richard C. Lolax
Richard C. Lolax, 70, of Auburn, died peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2019 after a brief period of declining health. He was the husband of Theresa M. (Detloff) Lolax with whom he shared 45 years in marriage.

Born in New York, New York, the son of the late Einar Lolax and Signe (Anderson) Johnson, Richard’s family relocated to Worcester when he was just 2 years old. Richard graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School in 1966 and shortly after was drafted into service and he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. He returned home following his discharge in 1971 and soon began working in the auto parts sales industry, gaining a valuable amount of knowledge in a very short time. He dedicated his entire working career to the industry until his retirement from Chapdelaine Buick GMC in Lunenberg as a parts manager.

It was in 1973 that Richard first met Theresa and in 1974 they were married. The couple in 1978 decided move to Auburn, a community they felt was better suited for their family. Always happiest when busy, Richard enjoyed his many years as a member of the Quinsigamond American Legion Post 318 in Worcester. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being close with nature. His vast knowledge of and passion for firearms were always the source of his commitment and many years of membership with the National Rifle Association. His keen eye for the beauty for cars and motorcycles always drew him close to car shows and any opportunity to see cars that were so well maintained by his many friends.

In addition to his wife, Theresa, Richard is survived by his sons Joshua P. Lolax and his wife Crystal of Charlton, Daniel A. Lolax and his wife Samantha of Sutton; grandchildren, Rachel, Courtney, Ivy, and Samuel. He was predeceased by his grandson Carter Lolax and his brother Paul W. Lolax.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visiting hour beginning at 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Streel, Auburn. Honoring Richards wishes, his family will hold services privately.
