Obituary for Glenn D. Sklut

Glenn D. Sklut
Glenn D. Sklut, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 after a period of declining health, at the age of 82. Glenn was blessed to be surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Janice B. (Rindfleisch) Sklut, the two sharing 57 wonderful years in marriage.

Born in Worcester, the son of the late Daniel A. and Rita (Collier) Sklut, Glenn was raised and educated in Shrewsbury, graduating from Shrewsbury High School in 1955 and went on to receive an Associate Degree in Aircraft Engine Mechanics from Boston University. Glenn enlisted in the United States Navy Reserve and proudly served until 1963. A man of many talents, he worked at Capitol Airlines, Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology, Fallon Clinic, and ultimately retired from Unico where he received many awards and recognitions for his insight and development of cost-saving measures. He also owned and operated Worcester County Refrigeration for many years.

Never once to be idle for long, Glenn was a devoted hobbyist. Over his lifetime he developed his passions in fishing and hunting, archery, botany, metal working and astronomy. He combined these last two and hand machined a telescope which he used to track satellites for many years.

He will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to lend an ear and a hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed mentoring young people in HVAC. His family will always hold close to their heart the tremendous amount of care he gave to his parents and his wife in their time of declining health. Giving so much and never with complaint.

Glenn is survived by his children Daniel G. Sklut and his wife Pamela of Dunbarton, NH, Wendy L. Adamovich and her husband Gary of Shrewsbury, Lori A. Wall and her husband Richard of Shapleigh, Maine, Carrie A. Bruss and her husband Alan of Holden; grandchildren Jason Falamino and fiancé Kathleen Mahoney, Samuel Adamovich, Mark Sklut and his wife Amanda (Palmisciano), Brian Sklut, Stephanie, Stephen, Nicholas and Alexander Wall; sister Donna Gendron and husband James of Shrewsbury; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Glenn was anticipating the arrival of his first great-granddaughter in October.

Expressions of gratitude to the all the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the Rose Monahan Hospice House in Worcester are sent from Glenn’s family for the kindness, compassion and care received. They are truly grateful.
