Anna May “Ann” (Jones) Seaton, 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, at Notre Dame Long-Term Care Center in Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Donald C. Seaton.
Born and raised in Kansas City/Independence, MO, Ann was the sixth of eight children born to the late Joseph E. and Minnie C. (Burton) Jones. After graduating from St. Anne’s High School in Independence, Ann worked as an administrative assistant. During the war, she worked for the US Armed Forces Personal Effects office. She met Don Seaton, a young Navy man, at a dance in Kansas City and they married in 1944. They loved attending concerts, which led them to a lifelong appreciation of classical music. The couple eventually had three children and settled in Westchester County, NY, where Ann worked at IBM for many years as an administrative assistant.
Ann and Don retired to North Carolina but subsequently relocated to Shrewsbury, where they lived in Westbrook Crossing. After Don’s death in 2001, Ann remained for several more years in Westbrook Crossing, where she was known for leading a long-standing senior aerobics group. She then moved into Benchmark Assisted Living at Shrewsbury Crossings, which was a warm and caring home for her for the last seven years of her life.
Ann had a love of music and art throughout her life. An accomplished pianist, she also played the recorder in family chamber music groups. She also had artistic talent, and enjoyed painting and crafts. But the center of Ann’s life was always her family. Ann is survived by her three loving children: Barbara A. (Seaton) Head and her husband James Head of Sudbury MA, Judith M. Seaton of Los Angeles, CA, and Donald W. Seaton and his wife Norma Montes of Glendale, AZ; five grandchildren, Ian Johnson and Alana Johnson, both of Clearwater, FL, Sarah (Head) DiBartolo of Barcelona, Spain, Angela Head of Sudbury, MA, and Amanda Seaton of Glendale AZ; two great-granddaughters, Mackenzie Johnson and Natalie DiBartolo; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was predeceased by her siblings Edward Jones, Bernard Jones, Marie (Jones) MacConchie, Elmer Jones, Leonard Jones, Donald Jones, and Theresa (Jones) Crow.
Services will be held privately for Ann’s family. Burial will be with her husband at the Shady Grove Cemetery in Bald Knob, AR. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a local food bank.
