Douglas Flink, 56, died Friday September 18, 2020 after a tragic accident on Dark Brook Reservoir in Auburn, MA.

Doug leaves his wife, Lisa (Arsenault) and two sons; Douglas Jr and Daniel, all of Auburn MA.

He also leaves his mother Sandra (Alzapiedi) Flink of Leicester MA, grandmother Mildred Alzapiedi of Sterling MA, brother David Flink and his wife Dolores of Auburn MA, sisters Darlene Bruce of North Brookfield and Sara Anifantis and her husband William of Spencer, and a brother-in-law Charles Arsenault and his wife Laura of Westminster. His father, David Flink, died earlier this year.

He leaves several nieces and nephews: Elizabeth Joslyn (husband Daniel), Kimberly Gaspie (husband Charles), Matthew and Thomas Arsenault, Scott, Erin and Matthew Bruce, Sotirios, Minos and Sadie Anifantis, a great-niece Alison Gaspie, and great-nephew Beau Joslyn.

He was born in Worcester MA and grew up in Leicester where he graduated high school in 1981. He has lived in Auburn for 32 years.

During Doug’s life-long career in the construction industry, he managed his own companies, D.E. Flink Contracting and High Tech Dormer before joining CCI Construction, Needham MA in 1997. He has been employed with Shawmut Design and Construction in Boston as a Construction Superintendent for the past 7 years.

Doug was a long-time volunteer with Auburn’s youth sports through coaching, as the President of Auburn Pop Warner and with Auburn High School football’s chain gang. Doug was a member of the Shawmut Design team that built a treehouse for a child through the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Doug enjoyed cooking and hosting for holidays, high school football dinners and many other events that became annual traditions with close friends. He was a gardener, home brewer and could fix anything. He loved boating and snowmobiling.

Doug loved his family and looked forward to seeing his great niece and nephew every chance he could. Above anything else in Doug’s life, he loved spending time with Lisa and especially his sons, Doug Jr and Dan.

Doug valued his lifelong friendships with friends from Leicester. In Auburn, he was a part of a special group of friends that he considered family. The moments shared with these friends are priceless.

Doug used his skill and craftsmanship to design and build his dream home in the mountains of Western Maine to share with family and friends. This was truly a labor of love. Anyone who visits will feel his presence.

Doug’s family would like to thank neighbors, friends and especially the Auburn Police Department, Auburn Fire Department, Auburn Fire K-9 Riggs and his handler Matt Ethier, Mass State Police, Mass Environmental Police, Mass District 7 Regional Dive and Communication Teams and Worcester Fire Department and their Dive Team for the support and efforts made during our family’s time of need.
