Obituary

Donna Gray (Bates) Sutter, 66, of Spencer, died peacefully in her daughter’s home in Auburn in the early morning hours of Friday, October 9, 2020 after a short, but hard-fought battle with Cancer.

She was born in Worcester, MA on November 20, 1953 to Jane (Moreau) Bates and the late Vance R. Bates.

She leaves she behind her husband of 44 years, Leo R. Sutter, her children Heather J. Rodriguez and her husband Peter of Auburn, Alicia E. Sutter of Spencer, Joshua R. Sutter and his wife Kelly of West Brookfield and Jenna E. Nelson of Auburn. She leaves her grandchildren, Marcus, Alexander, Ethan and Griffen of Auburn, Juliana and Landen of West Brookfield, and Koryna of Webster and her two great-grandchildren, Skyler and Giovanni of Webster. She leaves behind her mother Jane M. Bates of Leicester, her sisters Heidi Laliberte and her husband Ken of Spencer, and Lisa Laliberte and her husband Norman of Jefferson, MA and her brother Vance R. Bates Jr and his wife of Chatham, MA; as well as her niece, Brooke Showalter, and nephew, Eric Laliberte. She is predeceased by her grandson, Joshua R. Sutter Jr. and her father, Vance R. Bates.

Donna grew up in Leicester, MA and graduated from Leicester High School. She then moved to Spencer and built her family, whom she loved more than anything. Donna worked for AA Transportation and was the manager of the buses for the Leicester Public Schools. She previously worked for Varney’s Garage in the same position. She loved her job and worked as much as she could ‘til the very end. She also worked for the Mac Mae Bus Company for many years and that’s where her love of this job all began.

Donna loved to spend time with her family. Her favorite things to do were going to the beach, Disney and Hawaii. She also just loved watching her grandkids play the sports they loved and she was their #1 fan, always the loudest yelling for them.

Donna will be so truly missed by her family, many friends, her work family and everyone who knew her. She has touched so many lives and it will be a different world without her in it.

Donna’s wishes were to have no services and private family arrangements are being by arranged by Britton- Wallace Funeral Home in Auburn, MA.

I worked with Donna at the Leicester School Department setting bus routes. Who would of thought that growing up and living within a mile of each other that we would be working together. She was a wonderful person and a delight to work with, I will miss her.
