Obituary

Carol M. (Soderberg) Jones, 76, longtime Auburn resident, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, with her loving family by her side.

She leaves her beloved husband of 55 years, William R. Jones, of Auburn; their daughters, Pamela M. Barton and her husband, George, of West Yarmouth, and Kelly B. Jones, of Auburn; her brother, John Soderberg, of New Hampshire; as well as her nieces and nephews. Carol dedicated many years to the raising of Matthew Carville and Alysha Creelman, both of whom she considered her own grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Arthur J. and Gladys M. (Bogart) Soderberg.

Born in Worcester and raised in Auburn, Carol was a graduate of Auburn High School, prior to beginning her career. She worked, for over thirty years, at Automatic Data Processing as a data entry clerk, from which she retired.

To the Jones family,
I was saddened to hear of Carol's passing. She was such a joy to sit next to in church. She was always friendly and had such a sweet way about her. Her love of her family was always evident with stories of Kelly and her cat and Pam and teaching. She would always love to show me pictures of Alyssa and share stories of Matthew. She also had a great love of Disney . My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time.

To the Jones Family - I was really saddened to hear of Carol's passing. I always considered her one of the most caring and funny people I met in the Auburn Congregational Church. I can so easily recall her sitting in the back left pew, often with her mom, Gladys. She always seemed happy, with a quick smile and always welcoming with a hug and always sharing a laugh, and filled with kindness and consideration. One of the great sarcastic humors I recall! Of course, knowing Pam and Kelly allowed me to also see her outside of church, which was also a blessing. Honestly, one of my most favorite people that I had the luxury of knowing in Auburn. She seemed to live her faith, always focused on the person she was talking to, never herself. I felt she was a great Christian woman and she will definitely be in a better spot in heaven. Of that I have no doubt. Blessings to your family, and to Pam and Kelly, my thoughts are particularly with you on this sad occasion.
