Obituary for Joanne Bates
With heavy hearts and a deep sadness, the family of Joanne Bates announce her passing on January 1, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, MA.
Joanne, age 59, was born in Boston MA, the daughter of the late John P. Bates and Eileen (Hannon/Bates) McMullin.
Joanne was a loving and devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt and grand aunt.
Joanne had a love for life and her family. She enjoyed bingo, the occasional trip to the casino, “road trips” and her lengthy telephone conversations with her many siblings. Joanne enjoyed every family visit between Massachusetts, North Carolina, Florida, Texas and Canada with each visiting ending with the beginning plans of her return.
"The impact our sister Joanne made in our lives and on the people around her, is a testament of the kind person she was. We will miss her dearly and think of her daily. She was funny and courageous 'til the end."
Joanne is survived by her beloved son Andrew, sisters Patricia (Danny), Judi (Dennis), Marie (Tom), brothers John, Michael (Laurie), David (Michelle) and George (Heather), several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Susan.
As per Joanne's request there will be no visitation. Interment to take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St. Auburn, MA.
