Obituary for Roberta "Bobbie" Nicholson

Roberta “Bobbie” (DeBerardinis) Nicholson, 76, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Boston and raised in Worcester, Bobbie was one of two children born to the late Robert DeBerardinis and Ellen J. (Bilodeau) Gorham – Robert was killed in action during WWII, and Bobbie was raised by Ellen and her husband Thomas Gorham, whom she adored. She was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School in Worcester, prior to attending Salter’s Secretarial School. Bobbie married the love of her life, the late Richard “Nick” Nicholson, on September 11, 1965 and the pair shared the next 50 years together, settling in Auburn to raise their family. She was doting mother and grandmother, and an excellent homemaker.

Bobbie cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and family, and was a lover of the casino – she was a casino ‘Ambassador,’ if you will.

She leaves her loving children, Karen Mackintire and her husband Paul, of Auburn, and Richard Nicholson, Jr. and his wife Heidi, of Rochdale; her beloved granddaughters, Cassidy and Kalli Mackintire, of Auburn, and Haley and Riley Nicholson, of Leicester; her sister-in-law, JoAnn Gorham, of Woodstock, CT; as well as several nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends. Along with her parents and her husband, Bobbie was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Gorham.

In 2016, she lost her beloved husband, but they are reunited again – Bobbie will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bobbie’s family between 9:00 and 11:00 AM on Friday, January 29, 2021 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn, MA, with a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:30 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street N., Auburn.
