Obituary for Edward C. "Butch" Jasiewicz

Edward Charles Jasiewicz, Sr., of Boylston, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 7, 2021 surrounded by loving family. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Hazel Margaret (née Troxell); by his daughter Robin Lafferty and husband Kenneth Lafferty, Sr., and their children Heather Decker (and husband Andrew Decker) and Ken Lafferty, Jr., all of Robbinsville, NJ; and by his son Edward, Jr., and wife Susan, of Yardley, PA, and their daughter Lianna.

Ed is also survived by his brother Theodore Jasiewicz (and wife Marie), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The youngest of ten children of immigrants Kazimer and Josephine, who settled in central Pennsylvania, Ed was proud of his large close family and Polish heritage, and was predeceased by siblings Zigmont, Charles, Wanda, Kathryn, Elizabeth, Genevieve, Antoinette, Blanche, and Thomas.

Born in Frackville, he and Hazel moved to New England in the 1960s, from Pottstown, PA, as did two of his brothers seeking opportunity for their young families, and they returned often for family visits through the years. He worked in the field of industrial painting, eventually co-partnering the founding of their own company.

Once settled in Massachusetts, their house became a popular place for gatherings in the small town of Boylston, a gentle sanctuary for local wildlife, and was graced by Ed’s gift of gardening inherited from his mother. Ed enjoyed fishing on the nearby pond and introducing his then young grandchildren to the outdoors. He will be greatly missed for his love of simple pleasures, holiday traditions, neighborliness, and devotion to family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boylston Firefighters Association, P.O. Box 634, Boylston, MA 01505. Their service and devotion to both Hazel and Ed has been an inspiration.

Funeral services will be held privately for Mr. Jasiewicz’s family. The Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury is honored to be assisting with arrangements.
