Obituary for Macy S. Hebert (Rickertsen)

Macy Sage (Rickertsen) Hebert, 68, of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center with her loving family at her side.

She leaves her beloved husband of 41 years, Kevin P. Hebert; their daughter, Lori L. Canane and her husband Jeffrey S. Canane, Jr., of Sturbridge; and a beautiful granddaughter, Courtney S. Canane. Macy was predeceased by her brother, Bradford Rickertsen; and their parents, Francis F. Rickertsen and Macy E. (Jacobson) Rickertsen.

She was born, raised, and educated in Worcester MA, graduating from Doherty High School in 1972. Macy became a wonderfully devoted and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family meant everything to her, and she meant everything to her family. When Macy became a grandmother, she became known to her granddaughter Courtney, as “Nans.” Macy had a contagious laugh that would warm the hearts of all who knew her. She welcomed friendship, friendly discussions, and quality time with those she loved.

She was a lover of all pets, but especially loved her dogs, loved camping at Fort Getty in Rhode Island, going to the beach, spending time in the sun, and travelling. Most of all, Macy loved spending time with her beloved granddaughter. She will be deeply missed, but will always remain cherished to those she knew and loved.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter, 111 Young Road, East Brookfield, MA 01515 (www.secondchanceanimals.org/).

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Hebert family from 4:00 to 5:30 PM on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central St., Auburn, with Words of Remembrance from 5:30 to 6 PM.
