Obituary for Joseph C. "Joe" DiCarlo

Joseph C. “Joe” DiCarlo, 89, longtime Auburn resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary A. (Grace) DiCarlo, in 2014.

He leaves his loving children, Lori Girouard and her husband Stephen, and Nicholas DiCarlo and his wife Donna, all of Auburn; his grandchildren, Nicole Stafford, Rachel Girouard, Dominic DiCarlo, and Angelina DiCarlo; his great-grandchildren, Avery Fisher and Levi Stafford; his sister Elizabeth Beriau and husband Joseph of Worcester, and his sister Carolyn Catino and husband Bobby of Auburn; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Joe was also predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Amelia (Mancini) DiCarlo; and his sisters, Marguerite Morrissey and Ann DiCarlo.

Joe was born and raised in Worcester, graduating from Worcester Boys Trade School in 1950, where he specialized in plumbing. He served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. He later attended night school at Worcester Polytechnic Institute for engineering. Joe began his career working at Astra Pharmaceuticals in Westborough, and then became a proprietor of Colony Liquors on Southbridge Street in Auburn for many years. He retired in the early 2000s after his lengthy career.

In his free time, Joe enjoyed golfing, sports, going on cruises with Mary, visiting Myrtle Beach and his house on Cape Cod, bowling, and playing cards and cribbage. Above all, making memories and enjoying time together as a family was his favorite.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the DiCarlo family between 9 – 11 AM on Monday, June 27, 2022 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. His funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 AM at North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn, and burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
