Obituary for Jacqueline Rose "Jackie" Lacouture (Leonard)
Jacqueline Rose “Jackie” (Leonard) Lacouture, 90, of Shrewsbury, passed away in her home on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alphonse L. Lacouture, Jr., their infant daughter, Brenda Christine, and their son, Robert L. Lacouture, in 2020.
Jackie leaves her devoted children, Bradley W. Lacouture, of Westport, Stephen F. Lacouture, of California, Wayne L. Lacouture, of Westport, Scott C. Lacouture and his wife Maggie, of Dover, NH, and Kevin J. Lacouture and his wife Patricia, “Pat,” of Worcester; her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Tayler; her loving grandchildren, Alex, Jeremy, Jonathan, James and wife Audrey, John, Alex and wife Stephanie, Andrew, Hannah, Rose, Cecilia, Jack, Nicholas and wife Thin, Nathan and wife Jen, Nadine and husband Sean, Alana, and Alphonse; six great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her sister, Beatrice (Leonard) Cerasoli.
Jackie was born in Farmington, ME to the late Arthur and Hazel (Dumont) Leonard. In her younger years, she worked for Worcester State Hospital before meeting Alphonse. They were married, and settled in Shrewsbury to begin their life together. Jackie worked as a clerk in the clothing department at Spag’s for many years, until she retired at age 63. She also volunteered at the Shrewsbury Schools and ran the concessions stand for Shrewsbury Little League. Jackie taught CCD (Confraternity of Christine Doctrine) at St. Anne’s, while being a longtime faithful parishioner.
When she was young, she sang with the U.S.O. in Worcester. Jackie enjoyed many relaxing vacations to Aruba throughout the years; she always found joy in gardening and keeping her yard at her home on Harrington Ave meticulously maintained.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Lacouture family between 3 – 5 PM on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, August 1, 2022 at St. Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Tpke, Shrewsbury, with burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
