Kenneth H. “Buddy” Bakstran, 96, of Worcester, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Care One of Millbury, with his loving family by his side. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Virginia S. (Esper) Bakstran, in 2011.
He leaves his son, John Bakstran and his wife Janet, of Sutton; his daughter, Carol Breeds and her husband James, of Auburn; two grandchildren, Michelle Lempicki and her husband Keith, of Auburn, and Shawna Bates and her husband Keith, of Oxford; three great-grandchildren, Sarah Lempicki, Ryan Lempicki, and Hayden Bates. Kenneth was also predeceased by his son, Michael Bakstran; and his siblings: Warren and Ronald Bakstran, and Beverly Burke.
Kenneth was born in Worcester, to the late Fulton and Evelyn (Warren) Bakstran. He was a proud Navy veteran, having served during World War II aboard the L.S.T. 499 that sunk off Omaha Beach on D-Day. He was a Signalman First Class, and was honorably discharged in March of 1946.
Kenneth was a Foreman for the City of Worcester Water Department, retiring after 32 years.
Kenneth was a faithful parishioner of North American Martyrs Church in Auburn, for many years.

Services were held privately, and burial, with military honors, was held in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. The Britton-Wallace Funeral Home is honored to be assisting with arrangements.
