He is also survived by his stepchildren and their spouses, Shirley and Gary Edbrooke, of Granville, MA, John and Michelle Elliott, of Charlton, MA, James and Rita Elliott, of Charlton, MA, and Robert Elliott and Barbara Slawski, of East Douglas, MA, as well as all of their children who will miss their Baumpa.

He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Alice Stone, his brother Gordon, and his Aunt Marion Stone.

Cliff was born and raised in Charlton, and spent much of his youth working for his grandparents on the Phillips’ family farm. After graduating from Charlton High School, he served his country by joining the United States Air Force where he specialized in jet mechanics. He was stationed first in Texas for basic training, followed by Georgia, where he worked predominantly on the F-86 Sabre. Following his honorable discharge, he worked at Pratt & Whitney until he joined R. H. White Construction, in Auburn, MA, first as a heavy equipment operator and then as a construction superintendent until his retirement. Subsequently, Cliff fulfilled his lifelong dream of being his own boss by forming CPS Enterprises, where he employed his many talents, including stump grinding, laying pipe, moving dirt, plowing snow and sanding parking lots into 2022.

Cliff enjoyed meeting with his coffee shop buddies throughout the day to discuss local and current events. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 21, at 11am, at the Federated Church, 64 Main St., Charlton, with burial immediately following at the Westridge Cemetery in Charlton. The family will also be hosting a Celebration of Life Reception at the R. H. White Training Building, 40 Central St., Auburn from 2 – 5 pm. Attendance at either or both is welcome.

Cliff was a tough Yankee with a big heart. He enjoyed and loved pets, and had a deep respect for wildlife in general. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Second Chance Animal Services, P.O. Box 136, East Brookfield, MA 01515 (https://www.secondchanceanimals.org/).
