Obituary for Richard E. Sarkissian

Richard E. Sarkissian, age 78, of Auburn, died on December 13, 2022 at home beside his loving family after a most courageous battle with cancer.

Dick was born on April 1, 1944 to the late Edward and Marion (Avedisian) Sarkissian and was raised in Newburyport. He graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, with a degree in Civil Engineering and worked his entire career at R.H. White Construction in Auburn.

Dick is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lynn (Rohrwasser) Sarkissian; son, Brian Sarkissian, of Auburn; sister, Janice Hilton and husband George, of Newburyport; brother, Robert Sarkissian and wife Sally, of Oswego, NY; brother, Steven Sarkissian and wife Merri, of West Newbury; and sister-in-law, Karen Chhabra, of Halfmoon, NY. Dick also leaves his beloved Boxer, Kelley 5.

As a caring person, Dick was always willing to help anyone. He coached Auburn Youth Soccer for several years, was an avid reader, and longtime season ticket holder of the New England Patriots. Family winter vacations were enjoyed in Puerto Rico and summer vacations in Newport. Dick always looked forward to boating, fishing, and scuba diving with longtime friend, Doug.

Dick had many talents and welcomed the opportunity of doing painting and wallpapering for all his customers over the years.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Jewish Home Care and Hospice, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609. Without their care, Dick would not have been able to be home during his final days.

There are no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to Dick's funeral service, which will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 90 Bryn Mawr Avenue, Auburn. Following the service, all are invited to visit with Dick's family for a luncheon in Voosen Hall at the church.
