Obituary for John E. Layte

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of John E. Layte, 54, of Auburn, on Thursday, December 22, 2022.

He leaves his mother, Gladys (Holmes) Ianotti, of Ocala, FL; his siblings, Donna L. Layte, of Concord, James R. Layte and his partner Janeen McLaughlin, of Ocala, Thomas M. Layte and his wife Margaret, of Beaumont, CA, and Paul W. Layte and his wife Jennifer, of Charlton; his brother-in-law, Theodore Mrugala, of Auburn; along with his beloved canine companion, Frankie; many nieces, nephews, and friends worldwide. John was predeceased by his father, Sidney L. Layte, and his siblings, Sharon M. Mrugala and Donald S. Layte.

John was born and raised in Worcester. He was a graduate of Doherty Memorial High School and completed college courses in computer science. He had many different interests, resulting in several different business ventures – John was the previous owner of a computer repair business, a computer training business, Tatnuck Pet Store, in Tatnuck Square, and Baystate Travel and Cruise Planners. He worked at the former EMC (now Dell) in varied positions in technical support and development, and software training and more recently with TSA.

John loved animals, watching sports, especially NASCAR, travel, computers, and vegetable gardening.

Relatives, friends, and colleagues are invited to visit with the Layte family from 9:30 – 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester, with a Mass to follow at 11 AM. Procession to Notre Dame Cemetery will immediately follow for committal prayers. The Britton-Wallace Funeral Home is honored to be assisting with arrangements.
