Obituary for James E. “Jim” Reid Sr.

James E. “Jim” Reid, Sr., 84, of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, with his loving family by his side.

He leaves his devoted wife of 62 years, Catherine (Gunderman) Reid; his children, Pamela Reid and her wife Gabriela Sievers, James E. Reid, Jr., Melissa (Reid) Blanchette and her wife Michele; his granddaughter, Ayden Reid Blanchette; his sister, Barbara (Reid) Guido; along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his granddaughter, Madeline Reid Blanchette; his brother, William R. Reid; and their parents, Donald C. and Marguerite V. (Hoel) Reid.

Jim was born in Leominster, and raised and educated in Auburn. He was a graduate of Auburn High School, Class of 1958. That same year, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during peacetime, and was honorably discharged in 1962. He began his career in Carpentry working for Kesseli and Morse Co., and later began his truck driving career for Anchor Motor Freight. He retired from Star Container as a truck driver, something he loved to do.

In his free time, Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors and having adventures, whether it be golfing, skiing, scuba diving, or deep-sea fishing – he loved it all! Above all, he loved making memories with his family, and spending winters in Florida with Cathy. He will be deeply missed, but forever loved and cherished.
