Janette was born in Worcester and was educated in the Worcester Public School System, graduating from Commerce High School in 1949. She married Bob in 1957, was a devoted wife, and loving mother to their two children, Bobby and Cyndy. In her 40’s, she was a student and graduate of LaSalle University specializing in Interior Decorating through an Extension program and also of John Robert Powers School of Modeling. At 50 years old, she was a student again and graduated from Rob Roy Academy with degrees in Aesthetics, Manicuring, and Makeup Artistry. Jan opened her own salon, Mademoiselles, in Shrewsbury which she owned and operated into her early 80’s. She loved her work and offered classes in teen etiquette, color analysis, and wardrobe consulting, while also providing manicure, pedicure, and skincare services. Always striving to learn more and improve her talent, Jan continued to hone her skills through the years with master classes in Boston, various cities in FL, and NYC with Mark Traynor. She won three makeup competitions and was a Guest Makeup Artist for ABC TV in Hollywood under Jimmy Rufino. Jan was in her element and glory when helping and working with people.

Jan’s other work endeavors were as a legal Secretary for Buckley and Marshall for 11 years after high school and as an Office Manager for ROC Erecting Inc. in her 40’s.

Her volunteer commitments were numerous - Secretary for Our Lady of Mount Carmel’s (OLMC) Steering committee for the Italian-American Cultural Center; Past President of Sodality at OLMC church; Past President of St. Rosa Venerini’s Junior League; Past President of the Shrewsbury Women’s Club; original volunteer in 1989 at the Look Good, Feel Better program helping cancer patients until 2009; career-program volunteer at a local women’s prison teaching wardrobe and make-up classes focused on re-entering the workplace; and an ever-present volunteer for many years at her children’s school - Worcester Academy. Jan was always finding ways to help people.

A long-term hobby and artistic passion of Jan’s was Tole painting, which she studied and painted for more than 30 years. Although she never formally studied dance, this was a great passion of hers and she was never far from a dance floor at parties and events. Jan was in her glory when dancing the night away.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice. Jan was diagnosed with dementia in 2017 and lived near her daughter in Pembroke at the Bridges memory care assisted living center since March 2019. She loved the many activities there - especially the musical entertainment and danced there every chance she had!
