Obituary for Mark Clifton Stone

Mark Clifton Stone, 63, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 15, 2023 with his devoted wife by his side.

He leaves his best friend and wife, Deborah J. “Debbie” (Blauvelt) Stone, of almost 40 years; his cherished mother, Barbara (Royston) Stone, of Newburyport; his loving children, Matthew Stone and his wife Noelle, of Palmer; Melissa (Stone) Gorman and her husband Marc, of Auburn, and his grandchildren, Jace, Dean, Carl, and Mara Jade, whom he adored; his brothers, David Stone and his wife Linda, of Haverhill, and Peter Stone, of Newburyport; along with his extended family and close friends, including nephew Martin Stone, and friends Karen Temple and Allen Bercume and many others. Mark was predeceased by his father, Roy Freeland Stone, in October of 2022.

Mark was born in Worcester. He was raised and educated in Auburn, was Past Master Counselor of the Auburn Chapter of DeMolay; and graduated from Auburn High School; class of 1978 and Worcester State University with his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Mark was a certified “Tax Professional and an Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service” and loved numbers with a passion, despite his dyslexia. He was a Tax Accountant for 25 years, and spent 17 years working at HR Block.

Mark was known for his quick wit, affinity for puzzles, crosswords, and anything that challenged his mind – he could solve anything! He also loved needlepoint, reading, technology, and most especially, cooking and baking with his grandkids.

Mark was one of a kind and would do anything for anyone. He will be remembered for his kind and caring qualities, and his love for his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Fraternal Order of Eagles, 59 Mill Street, Southbridge, MA.
