Obituary for Edward C. "Ed" "Scotty" Scott

Edward C. “Ed” “Scotty” Scott, 90, lifelong Auburn resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Saint Vincent Hospital, with his loving family by his side. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Miriam J. (Osborne) Scott, in 1993.

He leaves his devoted children: Sharon Croteau and her husband Raymond, of Auburn, Russell Scott and his wife Nancy, of Oxford, Eric Scott, of Winchester, NH, and Carl Scott and his wife Karen, also of Winchester; his grandchildren: Jaime, Rhonda, Shirley, Heather, Ericka, René, and Joshua; his great-grandchildren: Lela, Patricia, Kenny, Krystianna, Keaneau, Shannon, Isaac, and Amber; his great-great grandchildren: Robert and Isabella; as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with Miriam, Ed was predeceased by his son, Warren Scott; grandson, Raymond Croteau, Jr.; and sister, Hazel (Scott) Kehoe.

Ed was born in Worcester, to the late Carl and Edith (Farmer) Scott. He was raised and educated in Auburn, graduating with the Class of 1951. After high school, Ed attended school in Boston where he became certified as an Auto Body Technician, and subsequently opened his own body shop, Scotty’s Auto Body. He owned and operated the shop for many years, and earned a reputation for being the man to call for any Corvette repairs. In his later years, Ed was an Insurance Appraiser for a private adjuster. Not one to keep idle, he worked delivering auto parts to local shops throughout his retirement.

When he wasn’t working on cars, Ed could be found spending time outdoors: trapshooting, duck/pheasant/rabbit hunting, fishing, and gardening were a few of his favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed taxidermy (and taught his children how to taxidermy!) and listening to Johnny Cash.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Scott family from 10 AM – 12 PM on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. His graveside service will follow at 12:30 PM in Hillside Cemetery, 65 Central Street, Auburn.
