Obituary for Kathleen A. "Kathy" (Carter) Stasaitis

Kathleen A. “Kathy” (Carter) Stasaitis, 67, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2023 in the comfort of her home, with her loving family by her side, after a courageous battle fighting glioblastoma.

She leaves her beloved high school sweetheart and husband of 45 years, Paul J. Stasaitis; her beloved mother, Jeanne B. (Ducharme) Carter, of Auburn; her devoted children, David P. Stasaitis and his wife Maureen, of Charleston, SC, and Katie L. Lucey and her husband Jerry, of Leicester, MA; grandchildren, Paul D. Stasaitis and Ireland K. Stasaitis, both of Charleston, SC, and Jeremiah M. Lucey, IV and Caitriona Y. Lucey, both of Leicester, MA; her siblings, James Carter and his wife Kim, of Charleston, SC, Linda Sbrogna and her husband Joseph, of Auburn, Ronald Carter, of Sturbridge, and Debra Seaman and her husband Kevin, of Auburn; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Kathy was predeceased by her father, Arthur H. Carter.

Born in Worcester, Kathy was raised and educated in Auburn, graduating from Auburn High School with the Class of 1973. She attended and graduated from Saint Vincent School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1976. In 1993, Kathy received her B.S. degree in Nursing from Worcester State University.

She and Paul were married in St. Joseph’s Church in Auburn on October 22, 1977.

She retired after an extensive career of 37 years at Child Health Associates in Auburn.

In her free time, Kathy enjoyed playing with and taking care of her grandchildren, going for walks with her husband, and spending quality time with family and friends. She also loved quilting, knitting, art, animals, day trips to the beach and Brenton Point, Rhode Island to fly kites, and traveling to Charleston, SC.

Kathy will be remembered for her kind, caring qualities, and especially for her one-of-a-kind, infectious laugh.

Flowers will be welcomed, along with memorial donations, which can be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (https://www.dana-farber.org/) or to the Michael Burke Foundation (www.michaelburkefoundation.com/).

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Stasaitis family from 4 – 7 PM on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, February 17, 2023 at North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn, with burial to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
