Obituary for Nancy O. Young (Tibbetts)
Nancy O. (Tibbetts) Young, 89, of Worcester, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Knollwood Nursing Center in West Boylston, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, Edwin R. “Jud” Young, Jr., in 2008.
She leaves her devoted children, Dr. E. Russell Young and his wife Nancy, of Shrewsbury, and Dana J. Mrozinski and her husband Henry, of Thompson, CT; her three grandchildren, E. Robert Young and his wife Jen, of Natick, Dr. Joseph R. Young and his partner Dr. Annika Bannon, of Houston, TX, and Kristen E. Ridder and her husband Landon, of Marshfield; and her great-grandchildren, Natalie Young and Owen Ridder. Along with her husband Jud, Nancy was predeceased by her brothers, Frank D. Tibbetts, Jr., Russell C. Tibbetts; and their parents, Frank D. Tibbetts, Sr. and Ethel (Kirk) Tibbetts.
Nancy was born, raised, and educated in North Quincy, graduating from North Quincy High School with the Class of 1951. She then graduated from the Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston. Most recently, she worked for Norton Company in Worcester as a Benefits Administrator, retiring in 1994.
For the past 44 years, Nancy enjoyed Barbershop-style music and singing with the Sweet Adelines. She was an original member of the Post Road Chorus, which recently celebrated their 35th anniversary. She was very active in her church and sang in the choir at St. Michael’s on-the-Heights for over 50 years. She enjoyed playing the piano, outings with her family, a glass of pinot grigio, and a good joke.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Young family from 4 – 7 PM on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral services will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at St. Michael’s on-the-Heights Church, 340 Burncoat Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston.
