Obituary for Cecile M. (Favreau) Misiuk

Cecile Misiuk, 98, of Auburn, peacefully passed at home on Thursday, May 4, 2023 with her loving family by her side. The Matriarch, affectionately known as Memere, and all variations of M.T. Cecile, Marie Theresa, Sis and Seal, Cecile lived a full and faith-filled life. She was married for 50 years to John Misiuk and lived in Auburn for 69 years.

A mother of 3, grandmother of 6, and great-grandmother of 1, Cecile embodied the true meaning of Mother and “a giver.” Her selfless acts of support and kindness extended beyond immediate family to neighbors, friends, college students, in-laws and others. She will be remembered fondly for hosting family dinners, cooking for others, and opening her home and kitchen to unexpected guests.

The daughter of the late Rose (Charbonneau) and Francis Favreau, she was born in 1925 in Worcester. Cecile attended Holy Name of Jesus Elementary School, St. Anne’s Academy in Marlboro, St. Peter’s High School in Worcester, and City Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester. In 1949, she married John and together they lovingly raised their family in Auburn, rarely missing an event of her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of the former Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Worcester and a member of St. Joseph’s in Auburn where she was a religious educator for many years.

She is survived by her children: Anne Marie (Bob Praino), Fran (Lynn) and Joanne (Scott Kay); and grandchildren: Julie Praino, Stephanie Praino (Russ Lathem), Nicholas Misiuk (daughter Olivia), Benjamin Misiuk, Zachary Kay, and Gabrielle Kay. In addition, she leaves her sister, Rita Boulanger of Auburn, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband, John, brothers, Joseph (Gerry) and Joseph Armand, and infant sister, Claire.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 11:00 am at North American Martyrs Parish in Auburn. A calling hour will be held that morning at 10:00 am in the church. Britton-Wallace Funeral Home is honored to be assisting with arrangements.
