Obituary for Jacob Matthew Boudreau

Jacob Matthew Boudreau

SHREWSBURY- Jacob Matthew Boudreau, 12, of Shrewsbury, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 13th at home, surrounded by his beloved family.

He leaves his loving parents, James W. and Kristen N. (Lourie) Boudreau, his two siblings, Hannah E. and Michael S. Boudreau; his paternal grandfather, Lawrence V. Boudreau and his companion Lavaun Barry of Worcester; his maternal grandmother, Joan A. (Guerin) Lourie of Shrewsbury; his maternal great grandmother, Florence T. Guerin of Shrewsbury; many aunts, uncles, and cousins, including a very special uncle and aunt, Jeffrey and Carol Lourie of Auburn and their children Gabriella and Isabella. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Ruth J. (Bradshaw) Boudreau and by his maternal grandfather, Jason Lourie. Jacob was born in Worcester and has lived in Shrewsbury for most of his life. He was a 7th grade student at Oak Middle School, where he will be missed tremendously by his teachers and friends. He also attended Coolidge Elementary and Sherwood Middle Schools. Jacob loved the Red Sox, enjoyed spending time at the beach, camping, and being with his friends. He also loved his two faithful canine companions, Hallie and Lilly. Throughout his illness, Jacob was an inspiration for all who loved, cared and came to know him. Jacob’s “journey” brought out the very best in everyone around him. Jacob faced many challenges with grace and acceptance and because of those challenges he became involved with multiple causes related to his battle, including participating in the Relay for Life celebrations both in Shrewsbury, and in Auburn where Jacob was not only the captain of the Auburn Police Department Relay Team, but the ”Little Angel” cutting the ribbon which signified the start of the event. Jacob also participated in several Kids Pan Mass Challenge Rides across the Commonwealth and he not only rode, but helped organize the first Kids PMC in his town of Shrewsbury. Jacob also inspired many friends and family to ride in the Pan-Mass Challenge, where Jacob was a Pedal Partner for Team L.E.G.S. Jacob was a leader who motivated others through his enthusiasm and zest for life.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all those who have helped Jacob during his illness, including the teachers and students of Shrewsbury, and the many Doctors and nurses for their ongoing care and dedication. A very special Thank You to Eileen L. at Dana Farber, for her never ending gift of hope.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours which will be held on SUNDAY, April 18th from 3-6 pm at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury.
