Obituary for Mary B Cunningham (Mannix)

Mary B  Cunningham (Mannix)
- Mary B. (Mannix) Cunningham, age 99, died peacefully Saturday, March 11, 2017 in Holden Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born in Worcester in 1917, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Delia (Galvin) Mannix.

A longtime resident of Auburn, Mass., she is predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter J. Cunningham. Dear and devoted mother of Walter Cunningham, Jr., of Worcester, Ann Cunningham of Millis, and James Cunningham and his wife, Elizabeth, of Holden. She is predeceased by infant daughter, Maureen. She was a loving grandmother of James Bender, Jesy Keenan, John Cunningham,
Mary Kate Cunningham, Elizabeth Cunningham, Katherine Elder, Michael Elder, and great grandmother of Bernadette Keenan. She is predeceased by three sisters and one brother.


Mary was a hard worker from childhood and throughout her life. She loved to learn, and strived to always be informed about world events, and business. With her husband, she was owner and treasurer of Cunningham Coffee Co., Inc. for fifty years.

The Rotary Ann’s members of the Auburn Rotary Club benefited from Mary’s organizational skills and ability to plan a party. A wonderful and gifted artist, she studied oil painting, and her many beautiful works are appreciated by all. Her eye for detail and aesthetic sensibility were evident in all she touched.
She was an Independent thinker, lover of cultural pursuits and travel, Mary was fun, thoughtful, and excellent company well into her nineties.

She will be missed by her beloved family and all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attended Mary’s funeral Mass which will be celebrated on Thursday March 16, 2017 at 11 am in North American Martyr’s Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will follow in the family lot in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours will be private in Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St, Auburn. Memorial donations in Mary’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
