Amanda M  McCormick (Pinette)
Amanda M. (Pinette) McCormick, 98, of Auburn died peacefully Thursday October 12, 2017 in the Christopher House in Worcester.

Amanda was born in Ste. Rose, Manitoba, Canada daughter of the late Paul and Marie (Armitt) Pinette. She was raised in Canada, one of fourteen children. Amanda immigrated to the United States in 1944 and became a United States Citizen shortly after.

During her working career, she had been employed at Reed & Prince Manufacturing during W.W.II, Beaconway Fabrics and later for the Worcester Country Club.

She married Francis W. McCormick in 1948 and they settled in Auburn to raise their family. Her faith was very important to her and for many years she attended daily mass at St. Joseph’s Church with her church friends until she moved to Pakachoag Village and became a member of the North American Martyr’s Parish. Amanda was a member of Auburn Women’s League, Ten-Pin Bowling League, the Auburn Rowdies, the Auburn Senior Center and she was active in the Meals-on-Wheels program.

She enjoyed sewing, decorating, gardening, entertaining her family and grandchildren and was especially thrilled when she could play cards or she was bowling.

Amanda was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Francis W. McCormick; a daughter, Donna Christensen and her husband A. Larry of Dennis; a son, Donald “Max” McCormick and his wife Kathy of Dunstable; six grandchildren, Andrew Christensen of Shrewsbury, Adam Christensen of Longmeadow, Arin Christensen of Beverly, Trevor McCormick and his wife Julia of Norwell, Caitlin McCormick of Salem and Allison Economy and her husband Matt of Winterport, Maine; also survived a sister, Eugenie Bonner of Prince George, Canada; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by twelve siblings.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass celebrating Amanda’s life on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 11 am in North American Martyr’s Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. There are no calling hours. Donations in Amanda’s memory may be made to the Patient’s Activity Fund at Christopher House, 10 Mary Scano Drive, Worcester, MA 01605.
