The tie
Last spring my son Mathieu informed me three hours prior to a school dance that it was a semi-formal... we rushed out to purchase an outift... only to find out that neither one of us could tie a tie...his father was working a double shift that night and would not be home in time... so I called Paul and Jan and asked for their help... and of course Paul was more than happy to assist us...
When we arrived Paul informed my son that it had been some time since he last tied a tie...and he hoped that he could remember how... of course he was joking... I think that this will be my fondest memory of him... watching him slowly and carefully tying that tie... this was a very important night for my son...and Paul knew it... he told my son over and over how handsome he looked... but it will really be about that moment when he placed the tie on my son... it was like watching a father or garadfather with his son or grandson... it was that tender... but that was Paul...caring, funny and so giving...
I will miss you...
