Obituary for Shirley A. Cariglia (Skoglund)

Shirley A.  Cariglia (Skoglund)
Shrewsbury-Shirley A. (Skoglund) Cariglia, of Shrewsbury, died peacefully on Monday, November 12, 2012. She was 78.

Shirley leaves her two children, Heidi Maenzo and her husband Anthony of North Grafton and Frank P. Cariglia of Bend, OR; her two sisters, Natalie Sinkus and Christine Cocaine, both of Worcester; her two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Skoglund of Shrewsbury and Doris Skoglund of Worcester; and her “grand dog” Cosmo, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her former husband, Francis J. “Pucky” Cariglia, her son, Gary J. Cariglia, and her siblings, Chester, Herbert, Earl, Howard, Edward and Warren Skoglund and Betty Lou Stratford. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Herbert G. and Tillie (Mard) Skoglund. Shirley lived in Shrewsbury most of her life, and enjoyed being a homemaker. Affectionately known as “Shirl the Pearl”, she had a keen sense of humor and will be sorely missed by all who loved her. Also known as “the Swede who made the best Italian meatballs”, Shirley enjoyed cooking all types of food and always put a little extra love in everything she created.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Shirley’s family on Thursday, November 15th from 6-8 PM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral will be held on Friday, November 16th at 10 AM in the funeral home, followed by interment in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester.
