Kathryn E. “Gibby” (Giblin) Stanislawzyk, 62, longtime Shrewsbury resident, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Saturday September 12, 2020 at home.

Kathy is survived by her beloved husband, Steven P. Stanislawzyk; her loving children, Michele P. Stanislawzyk Kolbe and her husband Benjamin Kolbe, of Framingham, Jason P. Stanislawzyk, of Shrewsbury, Kevin J. Stanislawzyk and his wife Lauren, of Holden, and Steven J. Stanislawzyk and his fiancee Brittany Altomare of Tampa, FL; her three wonderful grandchildren: Ian A. Kolbe, Alexander S. Kolbe, and Levon S. Stanislawzyk; her siblings: Paula Brownhill, John Giblin, Diane Sheehan, Joseph Giblin, Theresa Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Pauline F. (Valiquette) Giblin, and her siblings: James, Mark, and Paul Giblin.

Born, raised, and educated in Norwood; Kathy graduated from Norwood High School with the Class of 1976. On March 2, 1979, she married her beloved Steve and began raising their young children surrounded by extended family in Norwood, MA. In 1990, Kathy and Steve accepted an opportunity to become owner-operators of a McDonald's franchise in West Boylston, MA, which brought their young family to Shrewsbury. Kathy was a source of love and mentorship for her own children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, as well as many of her neighbors and children’s friends. Sixteen years ago, Kathy found her second calling when she became an elder companion for local families. Kathy’s life was dedicated to providing love, care, and support. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center, One Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Kathy’s family between 3:00 and 5:00 PM on Friday September 18, 2020 at St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury, MA. Funeral Mass will be held privately for her family.

Dear Steve, Jay and family....
I was so shocked and deeply saddened by the news of Kathy’s passing. Though many years have passed since our days at WB McD’s, I have such vivid memories of those times! I always enjoyed my shifts working side-by-side with Kathy (& Steve!). We certainly had some good times!
May your memories bring you some measure of comfort. I know this loss is incredibly difficult to accept. May God Bless and Illuminate her Soul. 🙏🏻 I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
